Porsche 930 TurboIn 1978 the Porsche 911 Turbo was released with many updates to help solve the problems from the previous first edition. Porsche addressed the concerns from the first 930 by increasing the engine capacity and bringing the rest of the cars mechanics to support the power. The Porsche 911 Turbo released in 1978 came with their new 3.3-liter engine, which actually remained the base power plant of the Turbo until it was replaced in 1994 with the 3.6-liter. This new 930 was incredibly fast and light making it yet again a very dangerous car for unprepared drivers. Many enthusiasts believed the car should have come with driving instruction because of its incredible turbo lag acceleration. Porsche also replace the exceedingly insufficient previous models brakes with a version directly from a there 917 race car. The biggest styling change came from the addition of the larger whale tail needed to hide the larger intercooler. The 1978 Porsche 911 Turbo was also the first model to have a turbo boost gauge on the dash. Interestingly the 1978 model appears to be more desirable then the previous model based of resale values.Only in 1989, its last year of production, was the 930 equipped with a five-speed gearbox. The 930 was replaced in 1990 with a 964 version featuring the same 3.3 L engine. There have been turbocharged variants of each subsequent generation of 911.www.assettocars.net
